My favorite at ten was The Mouse and the Motorcycle by Beverly Cleary. At eleven, it was Mrs Frisby and the Rats of NIMH. Ah, the halcyon days of my rodent phase...
Mine was Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli. It pretty much still is, actually.
