Actually, I'm probably being naive on the legality issue but if I was a writer's agent, man, would I question whether or not to fight a clause like that remaining in a contract my client signs.

Wow, I'm not sure how I feel about that. I understand the reasoning behind it but man, I really wonder about the legality of that sort of move.
